According to Variety, Netflix has begun testing a new feature called “patches” to encourage kids to watch more programming. The “patches” features operates like a video game in that kids will receive rewards for watching various programs. For example, a child will receive a “patch” for watching 6 episodes of Fuller House.
A Netflix spokesperson sent the following statement to Variety:
“We are testing a new feature on select kids titles that introduces collectible items for a more interactive experience, adding an element of fun and providing kids something to talk about and share around the titles they love. We learn by testing and this feature may or may not become part of the Netflix experience.”
