Appleton, WI 54911
Downtown Appleton has always been known for some great music, and Fun Luvin' in the 90s was no exception. Many bands in the Fox Valley got their start playing at the coffee shop where their high school friends came to see the shows. It was a small, hot, crowded space, but people always came to hear the music. It's been years since many of those great bands played together, so we are hosting a reunion show of sorts for bands like Sunday Flood, Pudge and Anything French (formerly known as Mr. Dunbar). We may even have a few unannounced special guests from back in the day as well! It's sure to be a great night of music!
Events: Celebration of Support Event for Luke Peters

<img src="http://woodward.dminteractive.com/i/ct/s__luke120.jpg" width="120" height="115"" border="0" align="left" vspace="4" hspace="4">Apr. 17, 2010 @ 4:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Waverly Beach, Menasha, Wisconsin
Luke is a 7 year old boy who was diagnosed with a brain tumor on August 29, 2008. He underwent an eight hour surgery to remove the tumor less than two weeks later. Pathologists around the country have determined that Luke’s tumor is an oligodendroglioma - grade III - a type of tumor that is generally felt to be incurable with a very high rate of recurrence and increase in grade over time. Luke’s doctors have pursued a course of ”watchful waiting” and are treating Luke symptomatically with the use of anticonvulsants to control seizures. Luke and his parents travel to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee about every six weeks for scheduled MRI or EEG scans and to meet with doctors.

In the event that Luke’s treatment would include chemotherapy and/or radiation, the best course of action would be “proton therapy.” This type of therapy is only administered in six centers across the United States, none of which are in Wisconsin. Proton therapy is very costly (approximately $175,000) and not covered under the Peters’s family health insurance policy.
Appleton, WI, 54915
Mark your calendars for the Kiwanis Club of Darboy’s 7th Annual Chickenfest at Darboy Community Park (N9334 Noe Road) which will take place Thursday, June 24th thru Saturday, June 26th, 2010. Due to the phenomenal growth and popularity of the event and to eliminate the chance that rain could hamper the event, organizers have scrapped the outdoor concert stage and have contracted to have one of the largest festival tents in the state (33% larger than prior years) brought in. In addition, Event Production Systems will be providing state of the art video screens, staging, sound systems, laser lights, and concert production equipment all three days which should make the shows and concerts an unbelievable experience. And better yet, all the shows and concerts remain FREE!

Some of the highlights for 2010 include KM Rides & Amusements (expanded rides in 2010), Buffalo Wild Wings wing eating & Rocky Rococo’s Pizza eating contests (live on the main stage), chicken dance competitions, a pedal tractor pull & free games tent for the kids, fireworks, a large craft show, parade, and plenty of food and beverages. In fact, the number of food vendors and food choices available all three days has been doubled.

Families won’t want to miss the new Thursday night Family kickoff night which will have ride wristbands available (Thursday night only) for purchase, an all ages “family show” with National Entertainer Jason Huneke (as seen on America’s Got Talent), as well as musical guest, Verona Grove, who will headline our Thursday night ALL AGES concert with a public meet and greet following their performance. Other musical acts this year include Sonic Circus, Boxkar & Half Empty. The Kiwanis are also excited to report that they have formally partnered with 95.9 KISS FM (Woodward Radio) so there will be a 3rd Annual 95.9 KISS FM concert (for 2010 and years to come) featuring national recording artist(s) to be announced (past performers included Ryan Cabrera, Verona Grove, JADA, Tina Parol, and Brooke Hogan). Check out the website at www.darboyfest.org for event information, corporate sponsorship opportunities, as well as newly added shows, national artists, performers, photos, videos, flyers, etc.
Events: Lifest

<img src="http://woodward.dminteractive.com/i/ct/s__lifest2010_logo.jpg" width="120" height="59"" border="0" align="left" vspace="4" hspace="4">July 7-11, 2010
Sunnyview Fairgrounds
Oshkosh, WI
The 12th annual Lifest has many notable artists again this year!

Opening the event on Wednesday, July 7th, will be Family Force 5. It will be their first appearance at Lifest. They are considered a Christian crossover crunk rock band hailing from Atlanta, Georgia. Known for their exciting live shows, the band has quickly grown in popularity.

Thursday, July 8th will feature the group Casting Crowns, Grammy Award winner for Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album of the Year in 2005 and winner of ten Dove Awards. The group’s signature light pop/rock sound has garnered four platinum albums and twelve #1 songs on Christian music charts. Also performing on Thursday will be Hawk Nelson, a favorite among many younger attendees.

Friday, July 9th features the Newsboys with new front man, Michael Tait formerly of DC Talk, and their first appearance at Lifest since former lead singer, Peter Furler, left the band to work behind the scenes. While their sound has melded together, they continue to maintain their high energy, interactive and dynamic performance, and attendees are looking forward to seeing them in a new light.

Saturday’s headliner on July 10th will be long-time favorite Skillet. Their show last year was the talk of the event with pyrotechnics and hydraulic lifts. Skillet’s edgy music has been nominated for two Grammy Awards and has won a Dove Award for song of the year.

Sunday, July 11th admission will once again be free, and will feature the band Kutless leading worship and performing. Their latest “What Faith Can Do” has reached #1 on the charts. Their diverse musical style crosses generations and will help cap off the event.

Additional artists appearing at Lifest include Superchick, Shaun Groves, Tenth Avenue North, Jonny Diaz, Thousand Foot Krutch, Sanctus Real, Seventh Day Slumber and a host of others. Lifest will also feature nearly 50 workshops and seminars from speakers like Shane Claiborne, Bo Boshers, Kent Annan, Gianna Jessen, Bob Lenz, Andrew Marin and more. Additional information on these and others appearing at Lifest can be found on the Lifest website at www.lifest.com.

Along with six stages of diverse artists and speakers, Lifest also features a comedy stage, activities, dozens of vendors, talent search, food, camping, fireworks and KidZone. Keep checking Lifest.com for updates.
