Ride for Dime - Motocycle Ride and Concert

July, 21 2012

The Blue Pig -- 5036 S. Packard Ave., Cudahy, WI

Event Description:
Tickets: $20 at the door

Ride for Dime Wisconsin, a day-long charity fundraiser featuring a motorcycle ride and live music, will take place Saturday, July 21st at The Blue Pig, 5036 S. Packard Ave. in Cudahy.

All proceeds from the event benefit the non-profit Little Kids Rock, which supports music programs in public schools. Ride for Dime (RFD-WI) is named for hard rock/heavy metal guitar legend Darrell “Dimebag” Abbott (Pantera) who was slain on stage during a performance in 2004.

Registration for the ride (which is also open to cars and trucks) begins at 10:30am. An all-day concert event at The Blue Pig will take place following the ride. The concert will feature national recording artist Texas Hippie Coalition out of Denison, Texas. Also performing are Chicago-area bands Emperors and Elephants, Habit of Force and Dedlock; Cowboys from Hell Ultimate Pantera Tribute from Minneapolis; Mindgraft from Wausau; Spur Gang from Cave Creek; and RFD-WI statewide “Battle of the Band” winners Memories Wither from Cudahy, Darcade from Sturgeon Bay and Power Plant of Wausau.

Little Kids Rock is a national nonprofit that transforms children's lives by restoring and revitalizing music education in disadvantaged public schools by partnering with school districts, training public school teachers in innovative curriculum, and donating all of the instruments and resources necessary to run rockin’ music programs. Little Kids Rock currently serves more than 85,000 kids across the nation.

Now in its fourth year, Ride for Dime Wisconsin was previously held in Wausau. Ride for Dime Wisconsin is one of 6 chapters nationwide, with the parent organization in Texas. RFD-WI also honors the lives and memories of Erin Halk, Jeff Thompson, and Nathan Bray – also victims of the 2004 shooting. The show is open to people aged 21 and over only; tickets for the event are $20 at the door.
