Emily was diagnosed at the age of 6 with congenital heart defects & pulmonary hypertension, a lung disease there is no cure for. Family was told there were no options for Emily and she would probably only live until she was about 10 years old. Against all odds, Emily is now 16 years old & lives with a central line in her body, which carries medicine to her heart 24 hours a day. A medication she cannot live without for more than 3 to 5 minutes. The medication has extended her life but it puts many limitations on her as well. Emily has not let it limit her quality of life. She has a strong desire to live, not just survive. Unfortunately, the time has come for a new path on this journey. In August they were given the news, that for Emily, to have a chance at survival, she would need a heart and lung transplant; a procedure that cannot be done in Wisconsin. We are hoping to raise money to help the family with medical, travel and separation expenses while Emily and her mom move to a different state to await her possible transplant.
