Clerks

About 20 years ago, someone thought it would be a great idea to capitalize on the cult success of Clerks the movie and adapt it to the small screen.  And it might have worked except for two things...

1) Kevin Smith wasn't involved and...
2) Disney was.

So as you can imagine this didn't turn out well.  (No Jay & Silent Bob?  C'mon.)  Thankfully, Disney didn't go ahead with the idea... especially after they saw the pilot below.  Even a young Jim Breuer and Keri Russell can't save this trainwreck.  Enjoy.

A punk documentary! It's educational!

Do you like to give money for worthwhile causes?  Sure you do.  So why not help out a number of area musicians and pony up for this documentary they're working on about the active 80s NE Wisconsin punk scene?  Just click on the picture for videos and other information on this very cool project.  You have a job now so there's no excuse.

Kenny Chesney in Green Bay

Thousands attended the Kenny Chesney show at Lambeau Saturday night and as you would expect, it was a drunken playground with numerous police calls throughout the evening.  Thank goodness Doug Schneider of the Green Bay Press Gazette was diligently relaying the entertaining scanner chatter on his Twitter feed.  Doug does this for the Packer home games each year and was all over Saturday night's s**t show.  Here's a collection of some of the better ones here.

And if you're not following Doug on Twitter, you should be.  Click here.

BTW... 22 arrested.  Alcohol may have been was a factor in all of them.

At my Catholic grade school in Marshfield, I used to lift up the girls' skirts at recess.  This kid's technique is much more advanced that mine ever was.  Fine work, lad.

If you're a wrestling fan, by now you've heard that Dusty Rhodes passed away yesterday at the age of 69.  Dusty had some big matches over the years (easily found on YouTube) but he also known for his skilled mic work.  The guy could cut a promo and you can watch him in action here.

This is old but at a Brewers/Braves game a few years ago, these two young lovers from Atlanta (who kinda look related) grew tiresome of the action and started some of their own.

Get a room.  Sheesh.

Global Force Wrestling will be in Appleton!

There's a new wrestling promotion starting up and one of their first stops is in NE Wisconsin!

Global Force Wrestling comes to Fox Cities Stadium on July 9th with tickets going on sale tomorrow.  The new promotion is run by Jeff Jarrett who you may remember as a former NWA and WCW World Heavyweight Champion and a WWF Intercontinental Champion.  In fact, you can meet him tonight when he throws out the first pitch at the Timber Rattlers game at 7:05!

A new Pete Townshend compilation will include two new songs, including one called “Guantanamo” about the controversial military prison.

,
Townshend sings in a raspy growl about the Cuban detention camp. “Down in Guantanamo … still guilty with no charge,” he sings over stinging acoustic guitar and skipping percussion. The prison came under fire a few years ago after detainees from Afghanistan reported interrogations that resulted in torture.

The song will join 16 other tracks on Truancy: The Very Best of Pete Townshend, which will be released on June 30 and features solo work by the Who guitarist and songwriter.

Townshend has been busy lately, headlining a benefit concert in Chicago last week, where he played some of his band’s songs with guests like Eddie Vedder, as well as continuing the Who’s 50th-anniversary tour with Roger Daltrey.

He’s also involved in a new collaboration project with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, which will give his 1973 rock opera Quadrophenia a classical update. An album will be released on June 9 with a concert to follow on July 5 at Royal Albert Hall.

The annual Dundas Testicle Festival is Saturday and it's a big year as the street dance returns!  The details...

Both bars (2 Of A Kind and Nut Haus) will open at 11am and will have testicles available to try.  The road will be closed off and covered with a 120 ft tent so plenty of room for everyone.  The band 18 Days plays from 3:30-7:30. Half Empty from 8- midnight.  Lots of Testicle Festival apparel and memorabilia available for purchase.

And for those of you who've never been, here's Dundas (Right click and "View Image")...

Dundas is close to everything, man!

As for the testicles, they're sliced up, breaded and deep fried so that they look like little chips when you get them.  But if you were ever curious as to what they look like before that point but after being separated from the bull... well, here you go.  Not for the squeamish...

Aren't you glad I waited until after lunch?

One of the last of the legendary bluesmen has passed. B.B. King died Thursday night. Perhaps best known to WAPL audiences for his 1988 collaboration with U2, When Love Comes to Town, Riley B. King (the B.B. was a shortened version of his nick name "Blues Boy", which itself was a shortened version of Beale Street Blues Boy) entertained audiences with his extraordinary guitar playing for over 70 years.

King was a inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 and was awarded the Presidentail Medal of Freedom in 2006. In 2011, he ranked at number 6 on Rolling Stone Magazine's list of Greatest Guitarists of All Time.

He is surivived by his close friend, collaborator and Fender Telecaster; Lucille.
