Story from WHBY News Director Mike Kemmeter
Two in custody after shooting in Neenah
An active shooter situation in downtown Neenah is over.
Police Chief Kevin Wilkinson says the scene is safe, and the community is no longer in danger. He says one person and a police officer were injured, and the police officer is OK.
Two people were taken into custody, at Eagle Nation Cycles, on Doty Avenue. Police went there around 9 a.m., after reports of multiple gunshots. One victim was taken to Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah, and a spokeswoman for the hospital says there aren't any updates on the person's condition.
SWAT officers had the shop surrounded for about three hours, before two people surrendered around 1 p.m., by walking out of the back of the business.
A witness told WHBY's Phil Cianciola that the situation started last night, with a customer dispute over a bike. Alcohol may have been a factor last night, and the customer was apparently told to go home and "sleep it off." The witness says the man returned this morning, and opened fire in the shop.
Police are planning another update when they have more information.
