WISCONSIN AREA MUSIC INDUSTRY (WAMI) ANNOUNCES FIRST EVER

GLOBAL “HONORARY”HALL OF FAME AWARD

Performers For the Awards Show Also Announced

35th Annual WAMI Awards April 19, 2015 at Turner Hall in Milwaukee, WI

MILWAUKEE, WI – Live performances by artists hailing from various parts of the state,

representing a range of musical genres, will be an integral part of the 35th Annual

Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) Awards Show April 19th at Turner Hall in

Milwaukee. Those in attendance will enjoy performances by:

The Delta Routine

Masonic Wonders

Consult the Briefcase

Rob DZ

The Pat Watters Band

Metal Men

The People Brothers Band

Sigmund Snopek III (2015 Hall of Fame Inductee)

Plasticland (2015 Hall of Fame Inductee)

Shonn Hinton and Shotgun (house band)

The Awards Show, which recognizes achievements in 34 music categories, will also

feature for the first time ever, a Global “Honorary” WAMI Hall of Fame induction. This

first time ever honor goes to British heavy metal legends, Judas Priest.

ABOUT JUDAS PRIEST: Judas Priest have been waving the flag of heavy metal for

40+ years, releasing 17 studio albums including their 2014 release, “Redeemer of Souls”.

Their revolutionary sound (twin-guitar attack with searing vocals) along with their

defining heavy metal look (leather and studs) has influenced and inspired countless

musicians and fans throughout the world, including the people of the State of Wisconsin.

WAMI President Zoy Begos states, “In keeping with WAMI’s mission to promote music

and the accomplishments of musicians, we’re stepping beyond state boundaries by

recognizing Judas Priest’s contributions to the local, national and international music

scenes.

Wisconsin has frequently been included on Judas Priest’s seemingly relentless

performance itinerary; fans recall the iconic concerts at Alpine Valley in the 1980s, as

well as their historic 30th Anniversary British Steel performance at Milwaukee’s

Summerfest on the Harley-Davidson Stage in 2009. 2015 is no different, as followers of

the band look forward to at least two Wisconsin Judas Priest shows, July 16th (Rock

USA Oshkosh) and July 18th (Rock-Fest, Cadott).

Begos continues, “WAMI is proud to have Judas Priest as our first ever Global Honorary

inductee into the WAMI Hall of Fame. When I contacted the band several months ago,

their reaction was enthusiastic. We’ll formally acknowledge their induction during the

35th Annual Awards Show, April 19 at Turner Hall.”

The public is invited to attend the Awards Show. Tickets for the show are $15 student,

$35 general admission, $59.99 VIP single and $99.99 VIP couple. Tickets are available at

the Pabst Theater/Riverside Theater/Turner Hall Box Office (check for hours of

operation) or at http://www.pabsttheater.org/events.

The Wisconsin Area Music Industry (www.wamimusic.com) is a volunteer

organization whose purpose is to educate and recognize the

achievements and accomplishments of individuals in the Wisconsin music

industry. The group also provides opportunities for youth to perform in

an annual Youth Music Showcase, while encouraging students and

emerging artists by awarding scholarship monies

music education.

Eddie Murphy on SNL was some of the funniest stuff I ever saw growing up and much to my deligh, last weekend, NBC re-ran the  December 1984 episode he hosted. It was the last time he appeared on the show. Weekend Update with the dolls, Buckwheat, Gumby, Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood all still burned in my mind.

SNL will celebrate it's 40th Anniversary with a special episode on February 15th - and if I wasn't already excited enough...Eddie Murphy has confirmed that he will be appearing!

How did I miss this? Jon Bon Jovi's first recorded song was "R2D2, We Wish You a Merry Christmas" from the rare 1980 Star Wars themed Christmas album - "Christmas in the Stars". Enjoy!
