So...Chester Bennington is the new lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots, and I"ll admit...he sounds a lot like Weiland, but I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Here's an inside look at their upcoming "High Rise" ep due out on October 8th. You be the judge...

Today is the anniversary of the tragic death of Jimi Hendrix who died at the age of 27 in an apartment in Notting Hill (part of London) in 1970. Five days earlier the guitarist gave an interview to Kieth Altham, a journalist who knew Jimi well.

Talking to the Independent Kieth said:

“He was an extraordinary force and used that guitar like a third arm, he was like two people on one guitar. He was an assimilation of all the music styles he had been through in his early career when he had played with the Isley Brothers and Ike & Tina Turner and Little Richard. He wasn’t just a blues guitarist or a jazz guitarist or a rock and roll guitarist – he was all of them rolled into one.”

Kieth Altham interviewed Jimi Hendrix in total of eight times but admittinly has said that during that final interview he looked to be ill and not in good health.

“He wasn’t in the best physical shape five days before his death. He had been going through a difficult period with drugs and stress and tension and the (new group) Band of Gypsys, which he had brought together, hadn’t quite come off as he’d hoped it would.”

Even though Jimi was unhappy and not feeling well Keith was convinced that his death was accidental.

“There were conspiracy theories and (questions of) did he commit suicide. I felt it was just an unhappy combination of drink and drugs and if anyone was guilty of anything it was of just not looking after him properly.”

This final interview has never been heard in it's entirety by the general public. Tonight it will be broadcast be Team Rock Radio which means after it will be available online.

It was today (Sept. 23rd) in 1969 that The Northern Star newspaper from Nothern Illinois University ran a story claiming Paul McCartney was dead, and had been for 3 years. The story claimed that Sir Paul had died in a car crash in 1966. A story like this would never last in this digital age, but in 1969 all it took was a DJ from WKNR in Detroit to run with the story and it was like "War of the Worlds" all over again.

The story had many more legs in the United States than it did in England where people had actually seen the real Paul leave his house, or go to the Abbey Road studios, or even go out to the Theater and such. Here is a Youtube video explaining it all. Enjoy and thankfully Paul is alive and well

Funtober just ranked the top 10 Oktoberfest celebrations in the U.S. and we came in at number 4. Here's what they had to say:

Started in 1981, it’s now a mile of fun on College Avenue from Richmond to Lawes Street at this Wisconsin Oktoberfest near Green Bay. They will have more than 100 food vendors and five stages of live music with local and national bands. Friday night includes a classic car show called the License to Cruise. There are also more than 180 arts & crafts vendors and a family fun area with kid-friendly activities and entertainment. More than 9200 people like Appleton’s Oktoberfest Facebook page

That's not even the top ranked Wisconsin Oktoberfest celebration, Check out Funtober's full top ten here

27 is a number that has become synomous with rock, almost as much as 666. From Jimi Hendrix to Curt Kobain, or Janis Joplin to Amy Winehouse, there are a number of musician / rockstars who have died at the age of 27. Loudwire has put out a definite list of the rockers who passed away at that age.

Click Curt to see the Loudwire list

Also a new book entitled The 27s goes deep into the myth about the age and the people who stopped living once they hit it.

Both are interesting reads and worth it if you get into the myth of the age of 27.

...and they're kinda hot!

This is from the start of the list on Ranker

These are real quotes and these are real women in prison who can be found on The hottest women in prison include a wide variety of young women who, for whatever reason, found themselves on the wrong side of the law and, ultimately, behind bars. We all hear the stories of famous celebrities being locked up (we're looking at you, Lindsay Lohan), but Hollywood hotties aren't the only beautiful women who are locked up: Lovely ladies from all over the country are currently imprisoned. Sadly, their beauty is rarely seen outside prison walls, but now, with the help of this list, you too can gaze upon their lovely countenance. I've listed some of the most smoking hot beauties in prison here, so feel free to vote for your personal favorites.

Some of the hot women in prison on this list are just looking for pen pals. Doing time is no picnic, but these gorgeous prisoners are hoping to pass the hours away corresponding with friends on the outside. Other hot female inmates might be interested in something more -- possibly true love. Some mention that they don't have time to play games in love, but really, if you think about it, they've got nothing but time.

Many of these women are incarcerated for very, very serious crimes, including murder, so keep that in mind. Some mention that they are working to better themselves while behind bars. Hopefully that happens. As one inmate puts it, "Even the best of people make mistakes right?"

A surprising number of hot inmates on this list say they're just looking for a good, honest person to spend time with, and some even mention they'd relocate for that person, if things worked out. Others simply want a penpal -- nothing more.

This gorilla statue of Freddie Mercury just came out on the losing end of a lawsuit.

The pop art statue of the late Queen frontman is part of a project called "GoGoGorillas" in Norwich England and was created as fan art by Mik Richardson. The Mercury Phoenix Trust disagreed on the fan art arguement as the AIDS charity, founded in 1991 in memory of Mercury, claimed that the gorilla’s getup was still close enough to the original suit to infringe the copyright on it, which they hold.

Looking to avoid a public arguement with an AIDS charity the project managers took the statue down, but are hoping to replace it with something that would infringe on copyright laws in 10 days.

Whether you are all in on the digital age or not this speaks volumes to not only the power of streaming music on line but to fans of prog rock and more specifically fans of Pink Floyd.

It was less than a week ago that Pink Floyd said if "Wish You Were Here" would be played over a million times on Spotify they would put their entire back catelouge online for people on the streaming site to listen to whenever they'd like. It only took four days

Spotify boss Ken Parks says:

"It's a great day for fans of prog rock, but it's also a great day for younger fans who have yet to be really turned on to the magic of Floyd. That's a lot of what this is about: bringing a new generation of fans to one of the biggest and most iconic bands in the world."
