Bob Dylan Interview Featured in Audiobook About Woody Guthrie's Years in New York City

posted : July, 15th by Music News From ABC News Radio - Classic Rock

Columbia RecordsWoody Guthrie spent his final 27 years in New York City, and in an upcoming audiobook, Guthrie disciples and contemporaries such as Bob Dylan provide insight into the closing chapter of the folk-music legend's life.

"It’s been a precious adventure, collecting the stories -- and the voices -- of my father's New York City friends and family, many of them who are now gone," daughter Nora Guthrie said in a statement.  "It's been, at times, both a hilarious and tearful journey."

Written and narrated by Nora, the three-disc My Name Is New York: Ramblin' Around Woody Guthrie's Town, due September 23, includes interviews with Dylan, Woody's son, Arlo Guthrie, and fellow folk legend Pete Seeger.  Two of the discs provide a guide to 19 Woody Guthrie-connected New York City locations, while the third disc includes 16 recordings by him and others.

A companion paperback guidebook is available now.
