I talked to a very excited Damon Johnson of the rock group Black Star Riders. Damon seemed to still be in the “pinch me” phase of being in a band with former and current members of Thin Lizzy.
When asked how the band Black Star Riders came to be,
“I found myself in an incredible situation back in 2011, I got a call to become Scott Gorham’s guitar partner in Thin Lizzy”
Damon toured with Thin Lizzy for the next couple of years. Scott Gorham then got the itch to write new music.
Johnson on how the new music sounded,
“It sounded familiar as it had that Thin Lizzy vibe but it wouldn’t feel right to put it out as Thin Lizzy without Phil Lynott”
So It was then that Black Star riders was born. Black Star Riders consists of Ricky Warwick, Scott Gorham, Damon Johnson, Jimmy Degrasso, Robbie Crane and Chad Szeliga.
