As the 50th anniversary of Led Zeppelin approaches on September 7th when the band played their first ever gig in 1968 under the name The New Yardbirds.
The band is celebrating that day with the reissue of their quintessential 1976 concert film and soundtrack, “The Song Remains the Same.” You can of course expect standard, deluxe, and vinyl editions of the reissue. And according to Rolling Stone, a super-deluxe box set will include “the album on CD and vinyl, a DVD of the original film with the previously omitted performances, a surround-sound DVD with a photo gallery and a high-def download card. It will also contain a 28-page book featuring stills from the movie and an essay by Cameron Crowe (who interviewed Led Zeppelin for Rolling Stone in 1975), a replica of a Japanese film program from 1977 and a high-quality print of the original cover. The packaging will feature embossing that replicate the original LP release of the album; it’s also the first time the film and soundtrack have been available together.”
Listen to WAPL at 6pm on the day of the release, Friday, September 7th, for a one-hour special featuring interviews with the members of Led Zeppelin and remastered cuts from the double-album! We’ll also re-air the special on Friday, September 28th at 7pm as part of WAPL’s Zep-tember special 40th Anniversary Artist of the Month.
