In case the new An American Treasure box set wasn’t enough for you, another Tom Petty collection is on the way this fall.
The Best of Everything: The Definitive Career-Spanning Hits Collection 1976-2016 is due out November 16th as a two-disc set and digitally, with a vinyl version being released on December 7th. It covers Petty’s entire career, including his time with The Heartbreakers, his solo albums, and the two albums he did with Mudcrutch.
Two of the 38 tracks – “For Real” and the title track (available here) – are previously unreleased. “The Best of Everything” is an alternate version of the song from 1985’s Southern Accents with an additional verse. An American Treasure contains a different alternate version of “The Best of Everything.” The new set will also include an essay written by director Cameron Crowe.
