This is the medical marijuana ad CBS rejected for the Super Bowl. It is far more moving than I had anticipated.
The ad profiles 3 people — a boy who had hundreds of seizures a day that were not abated by traditional medicine, a man addicted to opioids, and a veteran who was in severe pain after his leg was amputated. All say medical marijuana made life livable.
Acreage Holding, a cannabis investment firm, was willing to pay CBS’ $5 million price tag for air time during the Super Bowl. The ad’s goal is to push for federal legalization of medical marijuana. While 30 states have legalized medical marijuana use, a federal law would help those in states who could benefit from cannabis use. However, the network turned the ad down because they don’t allow any marijuana ads on the air.
