Led Zeppelin have announced a new documentary movie to celebrate their 50th Anniversary!
Bernard MacMahon’s (American Epic), the as-yet-untitled film’s director and plans to shop the project at the Cannes Film Festival.
The film is currently in post-production and features new interviews from Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, along with rare archival interviews with late drummer John Bonham. There is also said to include previously high-quality audio transfers of the band’s music, unseen film and photographs, and interviews with various artists. This is the first time that the band has participated in a documentary since their formation.
Variety reports that John Paul Jones said of the film:
“The time was right for us to tell our own story for the first time in our own words, and I think that this film will really bring this story to life.”
In February, the band announced a partnership with Vans to create a new line of 50th Anniversary merch.
Led Zeppelin recently concluded their reissue campaign with a newly remastered version of the soundtrack to “The Song Remains the Same” concert film.
