A proposed state rule is putting the “Bark Bus” in jeopardy.
The Fox Valley Humane Association uses it to bring dogs from other states to the shelter to be adopted.
The Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection might start requiring tests for Brucellosis and heart worm for out-of-state dogs.
Vicki Prey is the executive director of the Humane Association, and she says that could mean there could fewer dogs coming to the shelter. She says higher adoption fees could also be a possibility.
Prey says they haven’t run the bus recently, because their shelter gets pretty full during the summer. But she’d like to start taking trips once or twice a month soon.
