Jefferson Elementary on Appleton’s southwest side is the district’s first “community school.”
District Diversity Coordinator Pa Lee Moua says they want to help children and their families by connecting them to agencies and organizations. She says some might not have enough food, or there could be a family issue that’s impacting a student in the classroom.
The school is opening a Community Resource Center with a full-time coordinator. The district plans to identify the different needs this fall.
