Kaukauna’s leader says the state came through with the 80/20 split it needed to repair a lift bridge in the downtown.
Mayor Tony Penterman says the city’s share to repair Veterans Memorial Bridge is $440,000. He says some of those costs are design work. He says once they know exactly what the money will cover, they’ll figure out where to take it from.
Penterman anticipates they will meet with contractors in the next few months to finalize the design work. He hopes repairs can start in the summer of 2020.
The project is estimated to cost $2.2 million and the DOT is is giving the city a $1.76 million grant. The U.S. Coast Guard is giving the city a deadline of May 2021 to have it up and running.
