Brown County officials are updating the community about why they’re adding more rumble strips to rural intersections.
County Highway Commissioner Paul Fontecchio gave a presentation yesterday showing pictures of bad crashes.
He shared a statistic from the U. S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration that shows center-line rumble strips reduce fatal and head-on crashes by 44 percent.
Bonnie Lee lives in the Town of Morrison at the intersection of Highway Z and Highway G.
Rumble strips were installed there this summer and she says the noise is impacting her life.
She’s asking for alternatives like LED lights, a four-way stop sign or reflectors.
Fontecchio says while he understand the noise concerns he has to weight that against overall public safety.
