A Kaukauna man drove about 20 feet inside a three-story apartment building this morning, and police believe he was speeding.
Asst. Chief Brad Sanderfoot says the 48-year-old man was on his way to work around 6 p.m., when he crashed into the building in the 100 block of E. Wisconsin Avenue.
He says two people were sleeping inside the apartment, but they weren’t hurt. Firefighters had to help get them out, and contractors had to make sure the building was structurally safe.
Sanderfoot says the driver lost control on Lawe Street, went through a parking lot, and into the building.
The Red Cross is helping the people who live in the apartment.
The driver had minor injuries, and he was taken to a hospital.
