People are celebrating creativity and comics tomorrow afternoon in Oshkosh.
The Winnebago County Literacy Council helped organize a comic contest for kids and adults.
Executive Director Tom Perry says they wrote their own stories, and the winners are going to be announced. He was impressed with the storylines, covering things like fantasy, social justice and real-life experiences.
Perry says the contest surpassed their expectations, and they hope to make it an annual event.
Organizers are also honoring Oshkosh native, and Marvel Comics writer, Mark Gruenwald. He’s known for his work on the “Captain America” series. Gruenwald died in 1996.
Tomorrow afternoon’s event is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Oshkosh Public Library.
