The leader of the Assembly wants Governor Evers to reschedule a special election for a congressional seat.
Speaker Robin Vos says the primary would be on the final day of the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. The primary is set for December 30th, and the general election will be on January 27th.
Candidates will be trying to fill the seventh district seat, after former Republican Congressman Sean Duffy resigned.
The governor’s decision to hold the special election in January could avoid a big GOP turnout in a state Supreme Court election in April.
