Another local community wants to study a train whistle ban.
Kaukauna plans to put money in the 2021 budget to hire a consultant to look at creating a quiet zone. Now, at least one city council member wants to move up the timeline.
Public Works Director Jon Sundelius says the study would show what safety improvements are needed at railroad crossings around the city.
He says the approval of Appleton’s quiet zone gives them hope.
Little Chute also did a study. The village will have to make some crossing upgrades before applying for a whistle ban.
