Appleton’s city council is expected to talk about a vision for Soldiers Square in the downtown again this week.
The community and economic development committee voted down the future plans for a second time.
Ald. Kyle Lobner believes the city should hold off to see what happens with the Soldiers Square parking ramp site first. He says the ramp will have to be torn down because of its age, and there are plans for a library there. He believes the time for discussing Soldiers Square can come at that point.
There’s a proposal to move the Spanish-American War memorial from Pierce Park, and build a new one for recent conflicts.
The council meets on Wednesday night.
