A man convicted in the cold-case murder of an 18-year-old woman in Fond du Lac County is taking a drug case to the state Supreme Court.
Dennis Brantner is serving a 10-year prison sentence for strangling Berit Beck in 1990. When he was arrested in 2015, he had oxycodone pills in his boot. There were two types of pills, with different strengths.
Prosecutors charged him with two separate counts. Brantner’s attorneys argue he should only face one count, because of double-jeopardy protections.
Justices heard arguments in the case yesterday.
