U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson says President Trump stopped him from telling the president of Ukraine that U.S. military aid would be coming.
The Oshkosh Republican says he realized he had a “sales job to do.”
But Johnson is also telling the Wall Street Journal the president denied in late August that there was any kind of arrangement for the Ukrainian president to do something specific, before the money would be released.
The impeachment inquiry by Democrats centers on whether Trump withheld the aid to pressure Ukraine to investigate Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.
