Governor Evers hasn’t reviewed any evidence in Brendan Dassey’s request for a pardon yet.
Attorney General Josh Kaul says the state justice department would provide whatever information Evers might request.
Dassey’s request for a pardon, or to be released from prison, doesn’t fit the standards Evers put in place for his new pardon process. But the governor says he’ll still consider the case.
A jury convicted Dassey of the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach. He was sentenced to life in prison, and he’s not eligible for parole for 29 years.
