The head of the federal Environmental Protection Agency is unveiling new rules for public water systems to follow for lead.
Administrator Andrew Wheeler stopped in Green Bay to propose the first changes in 28 years. He says they want every public water system to put together a map of lead service lines.
Schools and child care centers would have to regularly test their water for lead.
Wheeler says he picked Green Bay to unveil the proposals, because of the work the city has done with lead water lines.
Over the past several years, the city has replaced nearly 1,500 utility-owned pipes. There are about 300 remaining.
