The suspected drug ring busted in Grand Chute last month had a direct connection to Mexican cartels.
Brown County Drug Task Force Lieutenant Kevin Kinnard says the nine indicted live in northeast Wisconsin but the alleged ringleader Derek Liebergen use to live in Missouri.
Kinnard says that’s where Liebergen would get pounds of meth.
He says he would drive to a hotel in the area and sell to lower level dealers who would break it down for sale on the street.
Kinnard believes the street value for the drug was about $2 million to northeast Wisconsin.
Liebergen pleaded not guilty to federal drug charges yesterday.
