The bankrupt owners of the Menominee Nation Arena in Oshkosh are looking to sell off their future tax
incremental financing payments right now.
In its latest bankruptcy court filing, Fox Valley Pro Basketball is asking the judge to allow them to contract with
a broker to find someone to purchase the future rights to its TIF payments from the city.
Oshkosh has committed nearly $5 million to the project, which is scheduled to be paid back in 17 yearly
installments.
In securing the TIF money now FVPB is also looking to require the city to pay off the
buyer which City Manager Mark Rohloff opposes.
Rohloff adds that selling off future TIF payments is not uncommon but such deals require the developer to
pay back the buyer not the city.
There will be another hearing in the Fox Valley Pro Basketball bankruptcy
case at the end of November.
