There’s more work to do on a new floodplain map for Winnebago County.
The County Board is putting off a vote on the controversial map, and sending it back to a committee.
It would place hundreds of properties west of Oshkosh, near Sawyer Creek, in a floodplain, and put new restrictions on potential development.
Supervisor Mary Beth Gabert of Oshkosh doesn’t think the county would be dropped from the Federal Flood Insurance Program if they don’t update their map.
The City of Oshkosh supports the new floodplain map because it would open the potential for more stormwater retention projects in the Sawyer Creek area.
