Little Chute leaders will b switching up the village’s annual bow hunt in Heesakker Park.
Parks and Recreation Director Adam Brees says the average number of deer taken each year is six. He says they want to keep the herd at a manageable number. Even after the hunt, people can typically see groups of 15 or 20 deer in the park area.
Brees says they’re opening registration to hunters from Kaukauna this year.
He says they’re also staggering the schedule to give hunters one week in the park, then a week off, followed by the final week. Brees hopes that will bring more deer back down to the park.
The deadline to register for the lottery is next Wednesday.
