The pilot killed in yesterday’s crash near a private airfield is from De Pere.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Department says John Fiddelke hit a truck on Dutchman Road in the Town of Ledgeview. Patrick Schounard of Greenleaf was driving the truck, and he’s at a hospital in serious condition.
Aaron Sauer of the National Transportation Safety Board says they’ll look into Fiddelke’s flying experience, and the condition of the plane. He says Fiddelke recently brought the plane in for its annual maintenance inspection.
Sauer says the runway was close to the road, and they’ll try to figure out why the plane was in a position to hit the truck.
