There’s a big drop in the number of students at UW-Oshkosh’s Fox Cities campus this fall, and administrators believe the economy is behind it.
About 1,100 people signed up for classes, and that’s down almost 500 from last year, or nearly 31 percent.
UW-Oshkosh Chancellor Andrew Leavitt believes more high school students are deciding to take a job, right after they graduate. He says when those high school graduates are looking for more education in the future, they could turn to the Fox Cities campus.
Most of the two-year campuses in the UW System are also dealing with a double-digit decline in enrollment. UWO Fond du Lac’s numbers are down 25 percent.
