Next spring, Appleton will have a new leader, and current Mayor Tim Hanna is reflecting on his time in office.
Hanna is deciding not to run for re-election after 24 years on the job. He says he’s most proud of collaborating with other communities on the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center and the Fox Cities Exhibition Center.
Hanna says there are new neighborhoods in the city, especially on the north and southeast sides. He says they rebuilt every major street, and made improvements to every large park.
Hanna says one thing that he probably didn’t take enough time to do was to take a pause, and celebrate good things that were happening. He says he was always looking ahead to the next thing.
If there are more than two candidates for mayor, the primary will be in February. The general election is set for April 7th.
