Valley Transit is looking to donate a couple of old buses so they can be used for training.
General Manager Ron McDonald says they replaced eight buses in the fleet. He says they typically remove all of the usable parts from the old ones, and scrap them, because they’re not worth much.
But now, Fox Valley Technical College wants one at the Public Safety Training Center. McDonald says the Appleton Fire Department plans to put one at Fire Station No. 6 on the northeast side.
McDonald says Appleton police want to use a third bus for SWAT training, before it would be scrapped.
He believes Valley Transit will only get $250 for each scrapped bus.
