A Republican lawmaker says his decision to vote against the governor’s pick for agriculture secretary would have been tougher, if a major group came out in support of nominee Brad Pfaff.
Sen. Rob Cowles of Allouez says the Wisconsin Farm Bureau was silent during the process.
He says there were several policy conflicts with Pfaff, including proposed new rules for farmers, and the issue of farmers and suicide. He thinks it’s unfortunate Pfaff wasn’t able to work with the full Senate.
Cowles believes Pfaff would have been more harmful to farmers going forward.
