A report shows Wisconsin is at least average in different areas in the fight against lung cancer.
American Lung Association spokeswoman Dona Wininsky thinks there’s room for improvement, even though the state is at the national average in four of six categories. They include the number of new cases, five-year survival rates, and surgical options.
Wininsky believes it’s encouraging that the state ranks fifth in the country for the number of screenings. She says that’s crucial in getting early treatment.
Wisconsin also had fewer people deciding not to get treatment, compared to the national average.
