The new Community First Champion Center is expected to be a big youth sports tourism draw for the Fox Cities.
There’s an open house today to give people a chance to tour the facility in Grand Chute.
Fox Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Pam Seidl says their initial estimates are to generate $8 million in spending in the first year, and up to $12 million by the fifth year.
She says teams are already scheduled to come from St. Louis and Indianapolis for youth sports events. Seidl believes the facility will become a bigger draw, as its reputation grows.
Seidl says they already have about 50 events booked.
The more than $30 million facility will be paid for using three percent of hotel room tax collections.
The open house is from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
