A new poll from the Marquette University Law School shows 40 percent support impeaching President Trump, and removing him from office.
That’s down from 44 percent last month.
Fifty-three percent oppose impeachment and removal, and that’s an increase from 51 percent.
Poll Director Charles Franklin stresses the changes are within the margin of error of four percent.
The poll was taken just as the House-led impeachment hearings started. Franklin says 52 percent think Trump asked for an investigation of a political rival, and 41 percent believe he withheld military aid for it. Eighteen percent say they don’t know if Trump asked for the investigation, and 21 percent don’t know if he withheld military aid.
Franklin says it will be interesting to see if that changes, after the hearings are done.
