A majority of older people in the state support proposals to give tax breaks and new rights to family caregivers.
Helen Marks Dicks of AARP Wisconsin says 90 percent of those over 40 think they should be able to write off those expenses. Eighty percent support a bill that would require hospitals to maintain contact with family caregivers on medical decisions, and ongoing care plans.
State lawmakers haven’t held hearings on the two proposals yet.
