There are a number of possibilities on the table for improving Appleton’s school buildings, including expansions and renovations at schools.
District Chief Financial Officer Greg Hartjes says a special future needs committee could also consider building a new school, and moving sixth graders to the middle schools.
The committee is going over possible improvements at the middle and high schools, as well. Hartjes says they’re considering creating more flexible spaces, instead of having so many classrooms with 30 desks in them.
The committee could make some recommendations to the school board by the end of next month.
