A lawmaker wants the state to charge state workers more for their rent.
Republican Rep. Samantha Kerkman of Salem says some employees for the DNR and UW System are living in places were the prices haven’t changed since 1995. She wants to raise them to current market rates.
The workers live at parks and research stations.
Kerkman estimates the state missed out on about $60,000 in revenue last year.
