The DNR is reporting the first positive test for chronic wasting disease in a wild deer in northeast Wisconsin.
A hunter got the doe in Sheboygan County during the archery season. The location is in the Town of Plymouth, about 10 miles from the Fond du Lac County border.
DNR District Wildlife Supervisor Jeff Pritzl says the DNR was already planning to do more CWD testing in northeast Wisconsin next year. He says they’ll work to collect even more samples….in the area around where the deer was killed.
The positive test also automatically extends the baiting and feeding ban in Sheboygan County for another three years, and two years in Fond du Lac County.
