Organizers of the new Fox Cities Festival of Lights are setting themselves apart from other holiday displays.
Renee Torzala of Faith Technologies says to their knowledge, it’s the first-of-its-kind in the country to be powered by a microgrid, using renewable energy. She says solar panels collect energy from the sun during the day, and stores it in a battery to use it at night.
Torzala says Christmas lights use a lot of energy. She says having a solar-powered microgrid will reduce the carbon footprint.
The Festival of Lights is set up in Darboy Community Park in Harrison.
