A state lawmaker wants to crack down on human trafficking, by adding new rules for strip clubs and dancers.
Republican Rep. Andre Jacque of De Pere is proposing a bill that would require the businesses and workers to register with the state justice department. He says it would set up a database that investigators could use to identify victims of trafficking and stop some of the illicit activity that’s going on at certain places.
Jacque says investigators have worked on cases where pimps take trafficking victims to strip clubs around the state, and force them to work in private rooms.
He says Green Bay and Grand Chute have similar local rules in place.
