State Patrol troopers won’t be getting a raise at the start of the new year.
Majority Republicans on a legislative committee are holding off on some proposed pay increases.
Governor Evers wants to boost the starting salary by almost 24 percent, to $54,000.
Assembly Speaker Robin Vos thinks a raise of more than 20 percent in one cycle is a little richer than the state wants to afford.
All other troopers would get a two percent raise next year, and in 2021.
The committee did approve a two percent increase for UW System workers and state employees.
Members also turned down a proposal from Evers to raise the minimum wage for state employees to $15 an hour.
