All seven House members from Wisconsin voted along party lines on impeachment last night.
Congressman Mike Gallagher of Green Bay was one of the four Republicans to oppose the two counts against President Trump. He posted a video on Twitter about the accusations.
Gallagher says the initial accusations of bribery and extortion seemingly disappeared. He says Trump could’ve withheld the aid simply because he doesn’t like foreign aid. He points out that Trump has also called on European countries to share more of the burden.
Congressman Glenn Grothman of Glenbulah read a list of reasons he believes Democrats pushed for impeachment. He says they hate the president for his stances on issues like welfare, food stamps, and trade.
Democrats think Trump withheld the military aid to pressure Ukraine to investigate a political rival.
Democratic Congressman Mark Pocan of Madison believes Trump abused the power of his office for personal and political gain. He says the impeachment also sends a message to future presidents that no one is above the law.
