A former congressman from northeast Wisconsin says he wouldn’t have voted to impeach President Trump.
But Reid Ribble also personally believes what the president did with Ukraine is an impeachable offense.
A Marquette University Law School poll showed 37 percent in the eighth district support impeachment, and Ribble says he would’ve based his decision on what people in the district think. He believes that should be how members of Congress vote on everything, unless for some reason there’s a strong moral conviction on a certain issue.
Ribble spent six years serving the eighth district, before leaving in 2016. Republican Congressman Mike Gallagher of Green Bay was elected as Ribble’s successor, and he joined all Republicans in voting against impeachment.
Ribble says he’s disappointed, but not surprised that no Republican members of Congress voted for either of the two impeachment counts.
He was on Fresh Take on WHBY this morning.
