After five years of construction, the final barrels and barriers came down along Highway 10-441 last month.
The completion of the expansion project was one of the top local stories of the year.
DOT Project Manager Curt Peters says they ran into some construction challenges, especially with weather. He says they also had to deal with settling issues because of the soft clay soil.
Construction started in 2014 on a new bridge over Little Lake Butte des Morts. The final stretches to be finished were around the Midway Road and Oneida Street exits.
The project came in about $5 million under the $390 million budget.
