The state’s energy efficiency program is becoming more popular, and it’s the most cost-effective in the country.
A report on Focus on Energy shows there’s about a $5 benefit for every $1 the state spends.
Program spokesman John Beard says over a four-year period, they saw a 46 percent increase in small business participation. He says they also targeted rural communities, and there was a 29 percent increase among homeowners.
The report found the four-year reduction in carbon monoxide emissions is comparable to removing six million cars from the road, for one year.
